November 6th, 2009Some Words From Our Assistant Director
October 29th, 2009
I honestly don’t even remember applying for the job. Tom, the director, emailed me out of nowhere, saying he wanted to interview me for the Assistant Director position. I’ve worked on several online series in the past, primarily writing or producing, so I had no idea what this position required me to do.
The next day, I was hired and learned that the assistant director is like the “Zuul” to the director’s “Gozer,” and I get to know all sorts of information about the show that’s usually hidden from you at home. Like when on the first day on set, Ben Ryan ***** ** **** *** **** ****** **** * ******* ****** **** ** ******* **** *** ****** **** ** ** ****** ****** ** *** *******, only to learn that ** ***** ** ** *** ***** ***. Can you believe that luck? So, ** ***** * ****** ** *** ******** ************* *** ***** ** ***. Needless to say, D.P. Jarrett was not a happy camper. He threw *** *** ****** in the big, fat ***********. “***** *** **** ** ** **** ***,” Tom cried out. “Not that ********!” We all burst out laughing. I’ve never seen anything happen quite like it.

October 21st, 2009The Writer’s Story

“Why did you begin writing?”, “What was your inspiration?”, “How long did it take you to finish?”
All writers, at some point in their careers, are asked these life-shattering questions. Some feel pestered. Others enjoy pontificating the meaning of it all. Well, I am here to represent and set the record straight. Ready. Set. Go!
“It was either this or therapy.”, “Oprah’s Book Club of the Month could make me famous.”, “I locked myself in my bedroom until my friends arranged an intervention.”

October 10th, 2009Simply Simon: A Director’s Vision
October 10th, 2009
I have a love/hate relationship with the word “vision.” It is, on the one hand, the most precise and succinct word for a director’s mindset going into any project, but on the other hand, it sounds so damn pretentious that I squirm at its very utterance.
So what’s my vision <ahh> for Simply Simon? It’s to tell a great story, from a superb script, and deliver on the honest moments inherent in the story, be them serious or funny.
